Membership Qualifications!
First of all, you might ask "what is the importance of church
membership"? In the book of Acts 4:23 we read " And being let go they went to
their own company and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said
unto them". This tells us the importance of having a body of believers that you
may go to in times of test and trial, to receive support and encouragement. If
we look further into this portion of scripture you will also notice that it
shows us the importance of the attitude of this Particular local church that
Peter and John returned to.
Acts 4:24, "And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with
one accord, and said, Lord thou art God, which made heaven, and earth, and the
sea, and all that are in them". You will see here that these people did not begin
to condemn them, nor did they begin to doubt God, but began to worship God in
faith for His ability to bless those who would believe Him and to put them over
the top.
I am convinced as a Pastor that the church family should be a source of strength
not weakness. That is what we are offering to you as a member of VFC. We are here
as Pastors and Congregation to help you obtain God's best for you and your family.
Now, let us look further into the word. Romans 12: 4,5 (NIV) "Just as each of us has
one body and many members, and these members do not all have the same function,
so in Christ we who are many form on body, and each member belongs to all the others."
So becoming a member of VFC is a pledge of commitment. This commitment emanates
from a personal commitment to Christ and having become a member of the church
universal, the Ecclesia (the called out ones). As a member of the body of Christ,
we should also be a member of a local body of believers.
Because it is a step of faith to "join" VFC, you should know that you are
called to VFC. To be a member is to say "I am a part of that church!" You are
pledging yourself to share the victories and burdens of others at VFC. You are
willing to share the responsibilities of the church. You are aware of the
"Family Responsibility" realizing that membership means nothing unless action
follows it. Amos 3:3 "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?". As a local
church, we must have unity to achieve the will of God. With the help of God, you
must determine whether you are in agreement with VFC. You should agree with and
support: A - Our Tenets of Faith, B. Our Philosophy of Ministry (Mission Statement),
C. Our Pastors and Staff.
You must be "Born Again" to qualify for membership at VFC. You should be in
fellowship with God, walking in the light you have, and pursuing a holy lifestyle.
You should be open to the experience of the "Baptism in the Holy Spirit"
Dear friend, my wife and I would like to thank you for considering making
this your church home. It is a joy for a pastor to watch the church family grow
and flourish. I would like to let you know that as a member of Victory Family
Church we as pastors are making a commitment to you to teach you God's Word both
by precept and example. We are here to minister to you, your children, and to
your entire family. We are available by appointment for counseling to those who
are a church member only. Our reasoning for this is that sheep should be counseled
by their own Pastor. We are available 24 hours a day in case of emergency. We
just want to see you receive God's very best for you and your entire family,
spirit, soul, and body. As the Apostle John so eloquently said in 3 John 2
"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in good health,
even as thy soul prospereth".
